Specialized Academic Research

Saher Impacts on Clearance Lost Time at signalized Intersections

Graduation Project - Traffic and Transportation Engineering

This research evaluates the impact of the SAHER red-light camera system on driver behavior and clearance time at signalized intersections in Dammam, with the goal of supporting safer and more efficient traffic management.

Start-up Lost Time

The time lost at the beginning of the green signal

Clearance Lost Time

The time lost at the end of the signal time

Methodology:

Field Data Collection
Traffic Simulation Tools
Advanced Statistical Analysis

Study Location

Dammam, Saudi Arabia

Results & Recommendations:

The study shows that while the SAHER system improves safety by reducing red-light violations, it also increases delays as drivers become more cautious. Achieving a balance between safety and efficiency will require smarter measures such as improved signal timing, countdown timers, and driver awareness.
